What It Does
Candelilla wax is a hard, brittle, yellowish-brown wax obtained from the leaves and stems of the wild candelilla plant (Euphorbia cerifera) native to northern Mexico and southwestern United States. With a higher melting point (68-73°C) than many other natural waxes and excellent film-forming properties, it's valued for creating firm, glossy textures in lip products, balms, and solid formulations while providing a vegan alternative to beeswax. Formulators choose it for its ability to increase product hardness and improve water resistance without feeling heavy or greasy on skin.
