What It Does
Gum Arabic is a natural polysaccharide exudate harvested from Acacia senegal and Acacia seyal trees, primarily from the Sahel region of Africa. It's uniquely valued in cosmetics for its dual functionality as both an emulsifier and film-former, with an exceptionally high protein content (2-3%) that distinguishes it from other gums and enables superior emulsion stabilization, particularly for oil-in-water systems. Formulators choose spray-dried Gum Arabic for its excellent solubility, low viscosity at high concentrations, and ability to create stable emulsions while imparting a pleasant, non-sticky skin feel.
