Sodium Benzoate

Sodium Benzoate is the sodium salt of benzoic acid and one of the most widely used preservatives in cosmetics and personal care products. It works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria, yeasts, and molds, but its efficacy is highly pH-dependent, functioning optimally in acidic formulations below pH 5.0 where it converts to its active undissociated benzoic acid form.
