What It Does
Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer is a synthetic anionic/nonionic hybrid copolymer, commercially known as Aristoflex AVC, developed by Clariant. It is uniquely self-emulsifying, capable of forming stable oil-in-water emulsions and transparent gels without the need for additional emulsifiers, even at low use levels (0.5–2%). Formulators prize it for its exceptional electrolyte tolerance, broad pH stability, and the luxurious, non-tacky, velvety skin feel it imparts—making it a go-to rheology modifier for lightweight gel-creams, sunscreens, and leave-on emulsions.
