What It Does
Amodimethicone is an amino-functional silicone polymer where amine groups (-NH2) are grafted onto a polydimethylsiloxane backbone, giving it a cationic character that allows it to substantively bind to negatively charged, damaged hair surfaces. Unlike standard dimethicone, its selective deposition on areas of highest damage makes it exceptionally efficient at repairing and smoothing the hair cuticle without excessive buildup on healthy hair. Formulators prize it in rinse-off and leave-on hair care products for its ability to deliver superior detangling, frizz control, and shine at relatively low use concentrations, typically between 0.1% and 2%.
